Part II Opportunities

The group takes up to four Part II students in each academic year. Part II projects are typically based upon established methodology developed within our laboratory, covering all areas of organic synthesis including the development of novel asymmetric transformations, mechanistic investigations, total synthesis and catalysis. Prospective Part II students are welcome to discuss potential research projects at any time. If you would like to see Steve to discuss potential Part II opportunities/projects then please e-mail him to arrange a meeting. If you wish to look around our laboratory or talk to the people currently working in the group then please contact any of the Senior Post-Docs, Jim, Ai or Paul, or come and see us during the Part II Open Day.

For more detailed information about the format of our Part II projects please go to our Part II Projects page, or download a copy of our Part II Open Day Poster.

D.Phil. (PhD) Opportunities

Information on the application procedure for graduate study in our group is available on the Chemistry Department website. For further information and funding opportunities contact Steve.

Post-Doc Opportunities

Specific postdoctoral vacancies in the group are advertised widely, both on the University website and in academic publications. General postdoctoral applicants should examine funding opportunities to support their stay in Oxford, before making contact with Steve for assistance with any fellowship applications. Particular attention should be paid to closing dates (which are usually well in advance of any possible start date) and eligibility requirements. We have a good track record in achieving funding for postdocs with their own country's government, and welcome any prospective applicants for funding from the Royal Soceity or for European applicants, the Marie Curie Fellowship and similar funding agencies.

Vacation Placements for Undergraduates

We are very happy to take on undergraduate students wishing to gain a bit of research experience, be it part of their practical requirement or not. We are happy to take students from a period of 1 week (flexible on times) to up to 3 months during the summer. Although this would be unpaid, we are more than happy to help them with applications for any bursaries which may be available. For further information contact Steve, or any of the senior Post-Docs, JimAi or Paul.

Academic Visitors

Visiting academics are very welcome in the Davies group. For further information please contact Steve.
